Using a large, double shielded Toroidal power transformer and high value output capacitors, the Marantz PM8006 produces an effortless 70 watts per channel. Refinement to match
Despite its easy, dynamic power, the PM8006 amplifier uses quality components for a graceful sound. This high-end Marantz amp uses a discrete current feedback design with Marantz’s own HDAM SA3 amplifier modules. Usually reserved for much more expensive models, these op-amps use surface-mount metal-film resistors for greater temperature stability. The upshot is a cleaner, less distorted sound, whatever the volume.

Although Marantz amps have usually always featured a built-in phono pre-amp, this one is special. Designed to get the very best from your vinyl, this phono preamp uses the shortest, simplest signal paths for the cleanest sound. The Marantz Musical Phono EQ uses two-stage amplification for lower distortion. Marantz’s HDAM op-amps also play a part in producing more accurate equalisation for cleaner, more open sound. All the features you need
The PM8600 is fully equipped with everything you’d expect, but don’t always get, from a quality hi-fi amp. Unusually, the PM8006 doesn’t just come equipped with bass and treble controls but also a very handy mid control. This gives you greater control over the midrange to adjust, for example the presence from vocals. In addition to this, you’ll find plenty of inputs – enough for five sources. A pre-amp output lets you add a larger power amplifier while the power amp input allows you to use the PM8006 as the front powered channel of your home cinema system. Finally, there are two, high quality sets of speaker outlets – perfect for adding a second pair of speakers in another room.

Built to last
The heavy-duty construction used in the PM8006 doesn’t just look and feel good, it also helps the sound quality. Starting at the bottom, a triple layer base plate adds mass and rigidity; both of which help to reduce mechanical vibrations from interfering with the sound. A full metal casing, including front panel, offers high rigidity and protection from electrical interference – both promoting a cleaner, more accurate sound. The aluminium extrusion heat sink proves effective at dissipating heat without resonating as pressed steel versions can.
